UPSC asked about Forces of nature in Prelims PYQ 2013:
1. Gravity
2. Electromagnetism
3. Weak Nuclear Force
4. Strong Nuclear Force
Order of their strength:
Gravity < Weak Nuclear Force < Electromagnetism < Strong Nuclear Force
Now, read (and learn) about these 4 forces.
1. Gravity
- Weakest of four
- Has infinite range
- Acts b/w object & mass
- Plays an 'attractive' force
2. Electromagnetism
- Has infinite range
- Can be attractive or repulsive force
- Weaker than Strong Nuclear Force
- Acts only on particles with electric charge
3. Weak Nuclear Force
- It has short range
- Responsible for radioactivity
- Considered to be a weak force
4. Strong Nuclear Forces
- Strong force with short range
- Holds protons & neutrons inside the nucleus of the atom
