#368: Tip: Improving Mains score to get a double digit rank
Detailed SoP on how to write better UPSC Mains Answers
If you want better UPSC rank, you first need to convince the examiner. If you want to convince the examiner. You need better answers. And if you want better answers, you must do this:
1. Strategic Pause
Don't start writing immediately. Spend the first 60-90 seconds thinking.
A good answer is usually won before the pen touches the paper.
2. Macros before Micros
Don't think of points. Think of dimensions.
Instead of asking, "What can I write?"
Ask, "From how many angles can I answer this?"
3. Your job = Make examiner's job easier
Don't write to empty your brain but to help examiner
Don't get excited by topic you know! Write what the question demands.
Every sentence should make the examiner's job easier.
4. Get help for evaluations in practice!
Idea is simple: One evaluated answer teaches you more than ten unevaluated answers.
That's why answer writing isn't about writing more.
It's about improving every answer you write.
