Prime Minister of India heads 6 out of 8 Cabinet Committees
What is a Cabinet Committee? 👇🏻
Introduction
Article 77 (3) states, "President shall make rules for convenient transaction of govt. business for allocation among Ministers of the said business"
Cabinet Committees are extra Constitutional bodies established under Government of India Transaction of Business Rules, 1961.
They reduce the workload of the Cabinet, allowing it to function better.
It is based on the principle of division of labor and effective delegation.
In total there are eight different committees handling various aspects of national importance.
*Most of these cabinets are headed by the Prime Minister except two
Revise them here 👇🏻
WHY?
Simply because, the Ministries allotted the respective roles could function better in these two committees, ensuring no instance of undue influence is allowed
Hence, The Home Minister heads Cabinet Committee on Accommodation and, The Defense Minister heads Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs
Okay but what do these CCs do?
Role of Cabinet Committees
Cabinet Committees play a major role in enhanced functioning of the cabinet by:
