What is it? Integrated Theatre Command🪖⚓️✈️

What's happening?

Integrated Theatre Commands (ITC)

Final draft ready to sync IAF, Navy & Army

• Aim:

- ITC to amalgamate personnel to fight as a single unit

- Fight as one in any war or a conflict

Okay, but why CSEWhy?👇🏻

How will this pan out?

• Mumbai: 1st ITC common defense station

• Additional join logistic nodes to be set up pan India

• Streamlined supply chains & inter-services postings

What is the current setup?👇🏻

Existing commands:

• Army & IAF: 7 each
• Tri-Services: 2
• Navy: 3

• Others:

a) Andaman & Nicobar Command
b) Strategic Forces Command (SFC)
c) Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQIDS)

What happens post integration?👇🏻

In new setup:

• 3 command HQs → ITC HQs

• HQIDS → to operate u/ CDS

• Andaman & Nicobar → subsumed u/ Maritime Theatre

What will be add-ons in the new structure look like, CSEWhy?👇🏻

3 adversary based ITCs

• Western ITC: Jaipur
• Northern ITC: Lucknow
• Maritime: Coimbatore -OR- Karwar -OR- Trivandrum

The three cater to Pak, China & Maritime threats

But catch is the LEADERSHIP structure👇🏻

• 3 ITCs: Headed by General (or equivalent)

• ITCs to report to National Defence Committee u/ Defence Minister

• Plans to have a Vice CDS & a Deputy CDS

• Vice CDS (General/equivalent)

To look into strategic planning, capability development & procurement related matters

• Deputy CDS (Lt. General/equivalent)

To look into operations, intelligence & coordination of asset allocation

Q you must ask: What happens to the current chiefs?

The answer is not yet defined;

they'll most likely be responsible for raising, training & sustaining individual services

Note: Operational roles will now go to 3 ITCs
