1. Cicada flies

• Dual emergence event since 1803
• 2 types: Northern & Southern Illinois brood

2. Chital

• Telangana State animal; IUCN: LC
• Habitat: Subtropical grasslands
• Males have antlers & larger bodies than females

3. Heliconius butterfly

• Visually guided behavior discovered in 'em
• Some prefer red wings while other go for white wings

4. Vechur Cow (Bos taurus indicus)

• Smallest bred cattle in world
• Named after a Kerala village
• u/ Critical maintained breeds (FAO list)

5. Starlet Sea Anemone

• Found along eastern N. America
• Secretes neurotoxin in venom
• it acts as defense against predator

6. Sambar Deer

• Vulnerable species in India, SE Asia & China
• Nocturnal animals with males living alone & females living in small herds

7. Hanguls (Kashmir Stag)

• Only surviving species of Elk; critically endangered

• Native to Dachigam NP (JnK)

8. Melanochlamys droupadi

• ZSI named newly discovered sea slug after President Murmu
• Discovered from WB/OD coast, endemic to India
• Small invertebrate & smooth dorsal surface
• Short, blunt, cylindrical body
