British fired indiscriminately on Bhil protestors killing over 1500

2. Tantya Bhil of Madhya Pradesh

• Tantya 'Mama' waged armed struggle against British for 12 years

• Looted from British & distributed among his people

• Hanged till death by British in 1889

3. Veer Narayan Singh of Chhattisgarh

• Executed by British in 1857

• "1st Chhatisgarhi freedom fighter"

• Sonakhan Army founder; Raipur cricket stadium named after him

4. Veer Ramji Gond of Telangana

• Led Gonds & Rohillas against British for 2 years

• A prominent figure of 1857 in Adilabad (Hyd region)

5. Alluri Sitaram Raju of Andhra Pradesh

• Became sanyasi at 18

• Nicknamed Manyam Veerudu (hero of jungle)

• Led guerrilla resistance against British
