A few days ago, I mentioned 'disappear for 6 months'
Got emails asking 'What to do in these 6 months?'
Well, for these 6 months, focus on 4 goals:
- Mental🧠
- Physical🤸🏃🏾
- Financial💰
- Academic📚
Sharing actionable strategy on all 4 in this blog🧵
First, Mental🧠
1. Delete Social Media📲
Social media corrupts your mind in ways you can't imagine! 😮
Not using it to make money or grow? Quit!
Here for education? Delete the app and use web with 15 min/day time limit
For me, I don't use any apps on the phone. All web!
2. Turn to Meditation🧘
Once you give up on screen, your mind will want to fill the void of screen with other distractions
To calm it down and put it on the right path, turn to meditation!
- Use apps or seek professional help for guidance
- See it as art of doing nothing. For few minutes daily, do nothing! 🙆
3. Start journaling✍🏻
If you are someone like me who used to think it is stupid, do this:
- On days when you are anxious, sit down to write/type
- Don't think much, just write whatever comes to your mind
- Write about your fears, tensions, anxiety and about your dreams
By the end of it, you will have clearer mind.
Now, I write everyday to clear my mind. It's like mental gym, you see?
4. Replace the screen with the books📖
Reading as a hobby will make you an absolute beast even with your #UPSC Prep.

Second, Physical🤸🏃🏾
UPSC prep can't make you fat (if you don't want to!)
How to resist obesity as an aspirant?
1. Walk 8k steps everyday🚶🏽♂️
Low effort, high return exercise
- It burns calories to keep the weight in check
- Pushes you in touch with the environment
- Gives you a break from the world
Use this time to listen to podcasts or just walk without any device. It'll clear your mind after heavy study sessions
2. Hit the gym, earn the 'Bal'💪🏼
Bal Buddhi Vidya is not a mere slogan but lifestyle. Being in the gym makes you stronger and the success from here will reflect positively in your studies.
- Better internal chemical flow
- High energy levels
- Toned muscles
Win!
3. Eat cleaner, drink more water🥗🥘🥙
Hit the gym, walk 8k steps a day and eat clean. You will be undefeated in just 6 months.
- Avoid seed oils
- High protein diet
- No processed food
- Focus on macros and micros
If going out, stick to whole rich foods, as much as you can!
And oh, this is your reminder to drink water.
4. Sleep 8 hours a night💤
The muscles that you are building in the gym or those that hit fatigue on the walk need rest to repair.
While the proteins will fix their job, it is in vain if you don't rest.
Yes, syllabus is huge and #UPSC needs your time and attention.
No, you can't give due attention if you are not well slept!
Third, Financial💰
UPSC is a marathon and you need fuel to run this marathon.
First thing first, divorce the idea of making money from having a job.
Know that you can make money even without an 'officer' job!
How?
1. Upskill yourself🎯
The times are changing and today's India has something to offer to everyone!
As an aspirant, don't be reduced to just book after >2 serious attempts.
Learn what's new in different industries and upskill yourself for the tasks suiting your niche.

2. Soft skills🤝🏽
As AI takes over, soft skills become more essential to stay in the game.
Focus on improving your
- speech
- email skills
- communication
- peer to peer skills
Remember, kindness and empathy are the basics. No one can teach these to you externally!
3. Start Investing💸
Use your assets to make money.
Find ways to meet a multiplier and develop passive income sources.
It can be investing your time or money. Put it in digital assets, learning new skills or simply investing in multiple options.
Remember: Wealth is a long term game!
4. Build a personal brand💪🏆
If you are upskilling yourself, you will need to sell yourself to gain financial independence.
Nothing better than a personal brand.
Example: You're reading this on @CSEWhy. What's it? A Personal brand!
But how to start, what to post, how to grow?
These are important questions. To share my journey and teach you more on how to build a personal brand, I am launching 'UPSC CSE Why Early Creators' Program'
Wonder how to join and if you are eligible?

Last, Academic📚
The UPSC game requires you to study. Okay, A Lot of Study! In these 6 months, focus on your academia in a way that it strengthens your next 6 decades. How?
1. Make a strong plan📝
You can only march strong towards UPSC CSE if you are clear on your plan.
Your plan shall have it on excel sheet about what you will study on every single day of the next 6 months.
Do account for the breaks, leisure and some fun time, tho!
2. Focus on Optional, Essay and GS📚
Now you know what all to add to your plan.
Divide time in a way that you stand strong on December 31 2023 with #UPSC Mains ready.
Remember, lakhs will start prep in Jan 2024 for Prelims. You can beat them on day 1 if you work your ass off in next 6 months.
3. Make your own notes📝
Don't think notes are necessary? Make your own notes!
Think they take a lot of your time? Make your own notes
Think GS is too big to cover? Make your own notes
Wonder how you will do it? Make your own notes (actually, a plan first but yeah, later, make your own notes!)
4. Befriend PYQs and Syllabus📜
PYQs and Syllabus are your guiding light to the UPSC CSE Mains.
- Print a copy of the syllabus (GS + Optional) and paste it on your study wall.
- Read it every day treating it as a separate subject
- For PYQs, make an answer bank of your own in an excel sheet detailing every single PYQ Q from last 5 years.
Yes, it's a task.
Yes, it's worth it.
You will see a video on how to do it very soon on my YT channel. Subscribe here
Now you know what do you have to do for next 6 months!
Looks like a task? It is not!
It is easy, just take the first step.
If you think this brings real value to your #UPSC Prep, I will appreciate you reward my effort with a like, a RT and follow me.
Trust yourself.
Trust your Bal. Buddhi. Vidya.
