Side hustle: fun way to monetize your ideas for financial freedom. Put low (but consistent) efforts to win results in short & long term.
Importantly, these are permission-less experiments to reward you with real ₹₹
Here are some side hustles you can explore with #UPSC Preparation
1. Dropshipping
One of my college juniors made 5 lacs in just 3 months dropshipping books
How did he do it?
- Made insta account
- Made graphics/reels using interactive tools like Canva
- Offered attractive discounts and offers
Best? He did not maintain any inventory.
Just collected the orders and drop-shipped books.
Educate yourself on it and see the ₹₹ rolling
2. Digital content
I won't speak much here but give you an example. An example of
@CSEWhy
I started this account on June 22, 2022. It is not even a year and Twitter, Telegram, Blog, YouTube etc. combined is ~100k community.
Result?
- People I looked up to are now friends
- New ideas are under process
- Helped 1000s of aspirants
- Got massive reach
Best?
- It is still 5 hours a week project for me
- I have an audience for things I wanna try
- Never out of friends and professionals to hangout with
If you think you can share your journey online consistently, start a fresh brand as a side hustle.
You can see and join my Podcast, Twitter, Telegram, Blog etc. at http://CSEWhy.Carrd.Co
3. Language Teacher
Almost everyone in India is bilingual. A majority is trilingual!
If nothing else, start teaching basic language on platforms like Twitter and YouTube. It'll take time to grow but once done, you have immense potential
If you want to pick up immediate work, multiple startups are working on it. Just explore! (Look for 'scooli' type companies in India)
4. Audio narrator
You must be living under a rock if you do not know about audio books.
Who do you think are converting so many audio books?
It is people like you and I!
Two ways to build audio books, motivational, stoic etc. content side hustle
- Start your own: podcast, YouTube (audio only w/o showing face)
- Sign up on websites like Voices.com
5. Sell you art
It can be creative or digital art that you can create and sell.
I know a friend who averages 50-80k pm selling creative art via Instagram
My brother @kaleidoscope_hq is regularly exploring digital arts
If you have been an artist and now left it cz #UPSC prep, reconsider.
If nothing else, you can start selling via Shopify and Etsy clubbed with reels and shorts on Inst/YT
6. Online Instructor
My sister is a consultant working in an MNC but loved adventure sports and Yoga. She recently finished her desired course as a Yoga instructor and started taking classes in her society in Pune.
A friend of mine is a popular Insta influencer who teaches AI and Prompts courses in live classes to hundreds of students.
Idea is simple: Recognize a skill you can teach and find ways to make money out of teaching it.
For an example: You can teach tips and tricks from your UPSC preparation.
But why will anyone learn from you?
I had same doubts when I started UPSC CSE Why.
But as Nike says, Just Do It!
You are anyway not getting anywhere much. Why not try?
These are VERY few. I am sure there are many you'd find!
Idea is not to teach what side hustle to pick alone
Idea is to help you realize that making legal money with few hours a week is doable (and not a crime)
Trust your Bal. Buddhi. Vidya :)
